Community Development - establishment of charities, Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs) and foundations

Organisational structure and governance

There are many different governance regimes applicable to the not for profit sector from a variety of legal, practical and environmental viewpoints. “One size” does not fit all and we will guide your organisation through the complex process of creating, evaluating and implementing the most appropriate structure, policies and practices. Community organisations are usually a mixture of paid professionals and volunteers. Determining or reviewing the organisational structure is critical and encompasses the professional team, the volunteer force and the inter-relationship and inter-dependence of both.

Private ancillary funds and Foundations

Private Ancillary Funds or PAFs (formerly known as Prescribed Private Funds) and Foundations are usually established by individuals or community groups to raise funds for charitable purposes. Lander Consulting’s independent service covers all aspects from analysis of the most appropriate legal vehicle through establishment (including tax deductibility) to board recruitment, governance, policy setting and operation.

Volunteer recruitment and development

Volunteers are the most important asset of a community organisation, whether they are board members or once a quarter envelope sorters. Lander Consulting will develop and work with you to implement strategies to identify the type of volunteers required, recruit and train them.

Communal audits

Similar to a needs assessment the communal audit enables a not for profit organisation to determine the community’s aspirations, needs, available and forecast resources as well as an assessment of the well-being of the community in question. Drawing on a professional planning background we will tailor an audit to answer these questions.

Community empowerment

From strategy to implementation, community empowerment enables the community to influence its destiny. Leadership, recruitment, training, governance and presentation of your case are the fundamentals necessary to make this happen.

Corporate social responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is a term with multiple meanings but at its core it describes the commitment of a business to operate responsibly, as distinct from purely commercially, for the betterment of the community. Determining the company’s objectives enables strategies to be developed for positive action. Our holistic approach and understanding of the needs of the not for profit sector ensure that the company and community achieve maximum benefit.
